Now there is a little part of me that thinks this is a good idea, after all Mickey Mouse has be colonising the world for the past sixty years perhaps it's time for countries to reaffirm their national identity, then there is the matter of taste... yes your right, it's all wrong!
There is a part of me that wants a ticket to see this. Anyone fancy a sportsman's bet that Trafalgar is not featured? I bet the Peninsular War does not feature either. Well, Napoleon wasn't actually present at Trafalgar, was he? As for theme parks - anything that gets us away from the eternal misconception that Disney made any significant contribution to the upbringing and traditions of kids outside the USA has to be refreshing.
The company behind the idea want to do similar theme parks in every European capital that Napoleon visited, the Russians have agreed that their park will only open for one winter season and that visitors must provide their own transport and catering as all hotels etc will be closed during that season, Cossacks can be hired as tour guides!!
the planned park outside of Brussels will at last lay to rest the myth that Napoleon was defeated there in 1815
...and the Leipzig park will feature tourists from all over Europe squeezed rugby scrum-like into a field, where all the French will be chucked in the river at the end of the day.
Hhmm???? How odd!
ReplyDeleteNow thats cool, can't wait to ride the "little Boney" oh wait, that doesn't sound right.
ReplyDeleteThey gave us Asterix and now the Emperor of France whatever next?
